Getting acquainted again

Well...............

Our technology problems have continued. Two nights ago, there was no internet access in our hotel. Last night, the power was off in the lobby meaning ' no internet access again. Today Chris and Carter are on a plane heading home. With them is Chris´ trusty laptop. I am sitting in an internet cafe trying to use an early 1990 vintage computer with a Spanish keyboard.

Much has happened this week and since I am at least 3 days behind, it is hard to know where to begin. Claudia has been finishing her mural for the church at Lanus Este in the children´s area. We hope to have some pictures. It is beautiful. Anne and Reba helped fill in areas and did various support work.

Several of us worked at various times painting a room in one of the church member´s homes. She is a single mother of three. She has twin girls who are 9 years old and a 14 year old son. They live in a small house about 2 blocks from the church. The house is in poor repair and needs attention badly. There are several roof leaks which made it impossible to work the bedrooms. We wanted to be sure that we were leaving a finished product so we concentrated on the living area. She had a business which she lost about 4 or 5 years ago. Since then she has been going to school to make dental prostheses. I am unclear how she supports herself in the mean time. She was very willing to work with us and was grateful for the help and the supplies. Her twin daughters were running in and out laughing and playing. When we finished they disappeared to their rooms and returned with little hats and candy as gifts to all of us for helping them.

It is getting a little late, so I will stop for now.

Since I am playing catch up with all of the technology problems, I apologize for the terse content.

I hope all is well. Pray for Chris and Carter´s safe return. We will be sending Reba, Erin and Bethany home tomorrow.
